A: Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women ages 35-54. Back in 1960 one in 20 women developed breast cancer, today 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer. Eighty percent of all cancers are thought to be related to environmental factors, while diet also plays a role. To reduce your risk:
- Eliminate xenoestrogens found in soft plastic products, plastic wrap, pesticide-laden foods (fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat), cosmetics and hair dyes to name a few
- Eat plenty of organic vegetables, especially the cruciferous family: broccoli, cauliflower, kale and Brussels sprouts
- Reduce alcohol and coffee
- Walk 15 minutes a day
- Don't stay on the pill too long
- Avoid synthetic estrogen like Premarin
- Keep your weight down as fat cells manufacture estrogen and the more fat the more estrogen you have
- Take ESTROsmart daily with meals
