osteoporosis

Hi Lorna, this question is for my mother. She has osteoporosis and had had knee surgery. She had her pituitary removed in 1973 and is on 3 or 4 meds. I heard you speak in Ottawa and learned that calcium carbonate is not wise. When taking other meds, should she go on bone booster and collagen plus? Curious about multismart. Knowing her, she won't take multiple pills as she might be overwhelmed. Which are the best for her. I am on levothyroxine and taking thyrosmart. Can she and I combine all these as well as be on meds?

You should both take Bone Booster 1 cap a day and 10 drops of Collagen Plus per day for healthy bones. Even if she could take 1/2 a packet of Multismart powder in food (yogurt, spaghetti sauce, soups etc) it would be better than nothing. The best types of calcium are citrate, aspartate and glycinate. These are better absorbed. And you need to take calcium with magnesium glycinate, minerals and vitamin D3. All found in Multismart. The reason that Bone Booster is so fabulous is the Vitamin K2 MK7 and Vitamin D3 combination keep the bones strong and keep calcium in the bones. Kate Rheume, ND has a new book out and it is all about the myth of calcium and how important Vitamin K2MK7 and Vitamin D3 are to our bones. Walk and buy a set of velcro weights to wear on your wrists and ankles while you are walking.
