Hemorrhoids & Veinsmart

Hi Lorna, I just wanted to ask how long it is safe to take veinsmart?

I had my initial bout with one hemorrhoid in November of last year caused by excessive sitting and constipation. I tried to heal it with diet etc. until April, but later found that I was still drinking coffee which did not help. In April I learned more about the diet etc and started to take veinsmart 3 capsule 3x per day with food. I am on my 3rd bottle so have been taking it for almost 3 months now. I notice it is much smaller but still gets inflamed and is not 100% gone. I have regular bowel movements that are dark and more soft and loose than hard. Caffeine definately irritates it as well as prolonged sitting.

How long do you recommend I take Veinsmart and do you believe I can get rid of them for good? I know it may take a while since I have had it for a while.

Also, is there any other website you could direct me to in terms of healing Hemorrhoids where I could find good information on healing them?

I thank you very much in advance for your time and help. Living in a rural setting makes going to the doctor quite difficult and from what I have read, conventional medical creams, etc. don't work anyway and can be dangerous.

Kindest regards, and many thanks again. Barb

Hi Barb, I may be able to help - have you tried Metamucil? If not you may want to give that a shot.

Hello Barb,

I would continue with the Veinsmart.

There are actually many possible factors that can cause constipation such as low fiber, low water, not enough exercise, medications, nutrient deficiencies, stress, a low functioning thyroid,a slow functioning liver, or even irritation of the digestive tract.

I would start with the simple ones. Increase water, increase fiber(fruits, veg, whole grains, ground organic flax seeds), chew your food and increase exercise. Buckwheat is a great food for veins, I would include it in your diet. You can you use it in place of rice, or even in place of oatmeal at breakfast. You may also want to try starting each day with a warm (or at least room temp) glass of lemon water, to get your system going (especially your liver).

Supplements such as magnesium, b vitamin and vitamin C are also helpful with constipation. Lorna's Magsmart uses magnesium biglycinate, which is a great form for keeping everything running smooth without causing diarrhea.

I would avoid caffeine. It will irritate your digestive tract in the long run and may cause more problems.

You likely need to address your whole digestive tract. I would make sure you are chewing your food very well, eating while calm and do not eat on the run. Avoid cold drinks near your meals as this can shock digestion. You may also want to try probiotics and digestive enzymes. Pay attention to how you feel after eating, are there foods that cause issues for you?

I hope you do not feel overwhelmed by my suggestions. Only include as many as you feel comfortable with, even if that means one at a time.

And finally, please DO NOT use Metamucil. The ingredient list is not good. It contains artificial sweeteners and colours. There are much better options out there that do not include such anti-nutrients.

I hope that helps!!

Creating links

There are two ways of creating links:
  • [Example](http://www.example.com) produces a link like this: Example
  • The fully qualified address, like http://www.example.com, will automatically be converted to a link.

Formatting Text

  • You can make your text italic by surrounding it with * characters, *like this.*
  • Bold formatting is produced by surrounding your text with two stars, **like so**.
  • You can even ***use both at the same time***.

Lists

  • You can make a bulleted list using stars, like this:

    * First Item
    * Second Item
    * Third Item

  • If you want a numbered list, just write it out like this:
    1. First Item
    2. Second Item
    3. Third Item

Headings

You can produce headers for your posts using the '#' symbol.
  • '#Main Heading Example' produces a top level heading.
  • '##Sub Heading Example' produces a sub level heading.
  • '###Small Heading Example' produces a small heading.
